Na een onderbreking van meer dan een maand is het Franse kampioenschap van de Sables dit weekend hervat met de Ronde van de Sables van Hossegor-Capbreton. Na twee opeenvolgende overwinningen in Magescq en Loon-Plage kwam Cyril Genot naar deze 4e ronde van het seizoen als de voorlopige leider. Voor de Honda-rijder was het ook de eerste kans dit seizoen om het op te nemen tegen Milko Potisek en de nieuwe wereldkampioen Todd Kellett, de twee Yamaha-rijders die terug zijn van blessures.
Onze landgenoot aarzelde niet en drukte al snel zijn stempel op de race. Nadat hij Yentel Martens het eerste deel van de race liet domineren voor Milko Potisek, positioneerde Genot zich als de meest serieuze concurrent voor Potisek en Kellett. Even later kwam Martens zwaar ten val en moest hij zijn podiumambities opgeven.
Genot weerstond het laatste zetje van Todd Kellett om voor de derde keer dit seizoen de geblokte vlag te pakken en won de race met zijn Honda voor de twee Yams van Kellett en Potisek, op de derde plaats. Lars Van Berkel en Florian Miot maakten de top-5 compleet, één ronde achter de drie leiders. Alleen Jeremy Hauquier en Daymond Martens finishten in dezelfde ronde.
Na de laatste twee races nipt naast het podium te hebben gereden, sloot Matteo Puffet dit keer de top-10 voor Stéphane Watel. Amandine Verstappen, honderdtweeëntwintigste in het algemeen klassement, won opnieuw het vrouwenklassement. Bij de quads ging de zege ook al naar een Belg. Randy Naveaux snelde als eerste over de finishlijn en klopte zo Keveen Rochereau en Jeremy Forestier. Davino Bruneel werd zesde, Oliver Vandendijck kwam binnen als 11de.
Komend weekend trekt het Frans zandkampioenschap naar Saint-Léger-de-Balson voor de 5de ronde van het seizoen, tevens de laatste voor dit jaar. Op 13 en 14 januari is de CFS in Grayan voor de voorlaatste ronde. De finale staat gepland voor 2-4 februari op het legendarische strand van Le Touquet.
